Oh man. You know that thing where you start with some idea in your head, and then work and work and work, and in the end, it's nothing like what you envisioned? This is that. Originally, it was supposed to be text instead of shapes for the figure's body and have a TV for a head. Go figure.
Anyway, lots of work, lots of learning, lots of changing, lots of winging it, and I come up with this. Whaddya think? Am I getting any better at this game?
Please, PLEASE give me some heavy critique if you're gonna comment. I need to know what I can improve so I can work on it, and maybe kick off my graphic design career.
I find the 'red ribbon' layer and the LIVE FOR TODAY layer less successful than the humanoid figure layer and (what I'll call) the 'background' layer. The red ribbon works from a compositional standpoint and for this reason should not necessarily be eliminated, but it appears incongruous with the rest of the image. The red ribbon itself could be blended (or altered) differently so it doesn't stick out in quite the same gaudy fashion--though of course that's just one man's opinion. The text is positioned and matched/blended in aesthetically pleasing fashion, and the message is not too distracting -- but since I can read it my eyes spend more time on it than perhaps should be devoted to perusing the rest of the image. (Minor observation)
Thanks for the critique. I definitely hear you on the ribbon/text points, as those very much were the last thing to be added, and didn't get the same care everything else did. I thought the ribbon shoulda been blended differently, I'll just have to figure out how to make it work.

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
